Our bankruptcy practice

Under new bankruptcy laws, people are required to undergo a means test to determine eligibility for filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. A means test compares your family income to the average income in the state of Connecticut to determine your eligibility. If your income is above the state average, it is still possible to file for bankruptcy, but additional information must be considered before you would be eligible for Chapter 7. Those who do not qualify for Chapter 7 can choose Chapter 13 bankruptcy, which is a reorganization allowing you to repay your debts over a three to five year period.
